There’s something special about stepping into a new creative direction—and today, I’m excited to share exactly that.
My latest album, China Grove, is now officially released under my electronic project Hammersmith Station. This album represents a departure from my solo piano work and opens the door to a new sonic landscape filled with texture, rhythm, and global inspiration.

🌏 A Journey Through Sound
At its core, China Grove is a 52-minute instrumental journey across 11 tracks, blending elements of:
- World fusion
- Ambient
- Downtempo
- Psychedelic electronic music
- Smooth jazz
Rather than focusing on a single genre, this album is designed to feel like an experience—something immersive.
If I had to describe it in one way, I’d say:
👉 It’s like riding the Orient Express through sound—with headphones on.
Traditional Meets Modern
One of the defining aspects of this album is the use of traditional Chinese instruments, brought to life through the East Asia sample library. Throughout the album, you’ll hear various Chinese melodic instruments, including:
- Dizi
- Erhu
- Guzheng
- Guqin
- Pipa
- Yangqin
I’ve also used a number of Chinese percussion instruments, including Bangu & Bangzi, Dabo & Naobo, Daluo & Xiaoluo, and Hua Pen Gu & Xiao Tanggu.
These sounds are blended with modern synth textures and atmospheric elements to create a fusion of old and new—something that feels both grounded in tradition and forward-looking.
You’ll also hear expressive performances created with the Roli Seaboard, an instrument that allowed me to add nuance and emotion in ways that go beyond traditional keyboard playing.
🎧 A Look at the Tracks
Each track explores a different mood and musical idea within the album’s overarching theme:
- Red China – A high-energy fusion of progressive rock and jazz influences with a driving groove
- Lancang – Flowing textures inspired by movement and landscape
- The Oracle Bone – A nod to ancient history and mystery
- Pink China – A lighter, more playful tonal palette
- Mantetsu – Mechanical motion meets musical storytelling
- Silk Road – My sonic journey down the ancient trading road
- China Grove – A highly ambient work, placing the listener in a garden grove
- Secret Passage – Atmospheric and cinematic
- Jasmine – Gentle and reflective
- Blue China – Smooth jazz, cool and laid back
- Sea Shells – A closing moment of calm and space
Production & Collaboration
Most tracks on the album were mastered by Steven Cravis, whose work helped bring clarity and depth to the final sound.
This project was incredibly rewarding to create—not just because of the music itself, but because it allowed me to explore new tools, textures, and creative ideas.
