There’s a new album on the way in 2024 from Arthur Dobrucki. “I Might Be Praying” will be released fully in November of 2024. The opening track is called “Morning at Erdington Abbey“. And before availability on music streaming services, it is first available in sheet music format.

Finding a Home For “Morning At Erdington Abbey”
I wrote this piece some time ago with the original title of “Abbey Song.” It was intended as a prelude before mass or a morning prayer service. I have played it several times as a prelude at church, but I was waiting to find a proper placement for this piece.
When I set out to record my album “I Might Be Praying,” the appropriate moment for “Abbey Song” revealed itself to me. The album itself is a musical prayer and soundscape set on the streets of Birmingham, England. I envisioned that the praying character, the subject of my work, could have begun her morning prayer at Erdington Abbey, also situated in Birmingham. While most likely a fictional depiction, joining “Morning at Erdington Abbey” with the remaining tracks of “I Might Be Praying” works for me. And I hope it does so for listeners as the album is revealed in 2024.
Publication Information – Morning At Erdington Abbey
Morning At Erdington Abbey will be published on music streaming services on February 23, 2024, in a “radio edit” version. Listeners will hear the music played from the score available to pianists and organists today.
My publication schedule is to release one track from the album on the fourth Friday of each month. “I Might Be Praying” will include nine compositions, most featuring piano in a field of soundscape and dramatic instrumentation to place the listener on the streets of Birmingham, England.
Background on Erdington Abbey
Erdington Abbey Church, more appropriately known as “Saints Thomas and Edmund’s,” stands proudly in Birmingham, marking a beacon of historical charm. Nestled on Sutton Road, this architectural gem is a grade II listed wonder that holds stories of faith and community within its walls. As a key site in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Birmingham, the Abbey resonates with the spirit and dedication of the Redemptorists who serve its vibrant parish.
The abbey offers regular mass services, confessionals, and other sacraments throughout the week. Visitors are welcome to attend mass at Erdington Abbey and experience the peaceful atmosphere within its walls.
