Quasimodo (Low Sunday) – April 8, 1028.   Today’s liturgy is known by a variety of names – most famously, it is called “Quasimodo Sunday” from the first word of the opening Introit (cf. 1 Peter 2:2-3).   Quasimodo reflects a Latin Scripture version predating what became the Vulgate. So, today’s Mass begins by exhorting the newly baptized.  It is called “Low Sunday” most likely in contrast to the celebration of the prior Sunday.  It is also known as “Mercy Sunday” and “Dominica in albis”.
