Keyboard Rigs – Benmont Tench
I came across this rig review by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers keyboardist, Benmont Tench. A nice little overview for keyboard nerds like me. I used to have a Wurlitzer Electric Piano years ago. A beautiful sounding electric piano – but oh my, there is quite no sound like a reed that breaks in a middle a set and the crackle resounds through a mega watt PA – enough to send people running for the hills. These days, a small clonewheel box for the organ, though the real deal Hammond is just about next on the gear list – just deciding between an RT-3 or B3. And funny, just like Benmont, my DX7 (Mark II) is also used to trigger something else – in my case, the Oberheim OB3-squared clonewheel box.
